Job description

Contract roles are geared toward independent professionals interested in temporary or project-based work.

Sia Title: Project Consultant (Exempt Contractor) 

Project Title: Technical Project Manager

Level: Mid-Senior

Project Length: This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 12 months plus (with potential extension)

Project Hours: 40 hours 

Location: Hybrid; New York, NY

The expected compensation range for this contract is $184,000 to $194,000 per year. The exact pay rate will vary depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to skills, experience, and location.

Key Responsibilities: One of our premier clients is seeking a Technical Project Manager for a global, large scale and complex application migration project.

  • Coordinates activities, resources, and information sharing ensuring the delivery of projects and key milestones. Involve the SMEs as needed.
  • Manages and maintains the project work plan, schedule, risk / issues, and documentation utilizing project management tools and techniques.
  • Makes certain that clients’ needs are met as projects evolve.
  • Monitors, tracks, and reports on project’s progress.
  • Proactively manages performance, cost, scope, schedule, quality, and other key project management activities.
  • Identifies, manages, and escalates risks, issues and change requests to appropriate decision makers.
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status and Key Performance Indicators adequately to all participants and stakeholders.
  • Successfully manages projects’ numerous resources – including those functionally aligned as part of the project and organizationally aligned resources.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end integration of various work streams to deliver the intended project solutions.
  • Oversight/Manage/Lead project execution, integration, and implementation.
  • Oversees periodic weekend project execution activities – every 6-8 weeks.
  • Manage work stream and governance meetings, maintains meeting minutes and action item follow ups.
  • 12 Month engagement, with a possibility of an additional extension (up to end of 2026)

Qualifications

  • 10 or more years’ experience as an IT project manager in a broad range of infrastructure related projects, including network, servers, and database solution deployments.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee infrastructure and development teams’ execution.
  • Background in technology, Linux, Microsoft Server, networking, market data and middleware, with the ability to coordinate with subject matters amongst these teams.
  • Experience in managing application migrations to public cloud (especially to Azure), and the changes needed to leverage cloud services.
  • Self-starter, proactive and works well with diverse groups.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills and can communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences, as appropriate.
  • Comfortable facilitating and presenting to groups.
  • MS Project, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, & Kanban, with minimum of 5 years of experience required.
  • Possesses professional knowledge of product / function and applies knowledge to project activities to enhance delivery.
  • Deeply understands all project management disciplines and their key activities, processes, and artifacts.
  • Understands the relationship of their project(s) to the overall program.
  • Leadership – Ability to work with team members to set and achieve development goals and provide constructive feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of formal project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Prince 2, etc.) and/or the Technology SDLC/PDLC Process, Agile, project planning tools (e.g., MS Project) and project change strategies.
  • General Project Management – Experience creating appropriate project documentation and effectively negotiates tradeoffs between scope, schedule, and budget; balances needs of multiple stakeholders. Gains buy-in from groups who may be resistant to change.
  • Schedule Management – Understanding of how to create, manage and understand impacts to project scope, constraints, and schedule. Manages projects according to work plan. Performs critical path analysis.
  • Cost Management – Experience developing and routinely reassessing project budgets to account for variances and ensures accuracy. Compares budget to actuals with forecasted costs, identifies risk to project financials and their mitigation.
  • Communication Management – Experience creating performance and status reports for relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk & Issue Management – Understands how to develop and manage project risk and issue management plans; analyzes risks by probability and severity to assess their impact on project delivery; implements solutions to mitigate risk threats.
  • Resource Management – Understands how to develop project organization chart and governance structures. Defines roles and responsibilities of team members and builds cohesive teams.
  • Quality Management – Experience defining processes and standards around governance, communication, and quality. Develops deliverable acceptance plans and criteria.
  • Change Request Management – Ability to identify and develop strategy for changes in scope, schedule, and cost. Develops strategic rationale for change including costs, benefits, tradeoffs, etc.
  • Implementation and Transition Management – Ability to create transition plans, identify lessons learned and applies the lessons learned to future projects.
  • Integration Management – Understands how to identify and manage project and program interdependencies.
  • Experience as a Scrum master a plus.
  • Six Sigma, Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management certificate or Certified Associate in Project Management preferred.
  • Financial Services experience preferred.
  • ITIL certification is a plus.
  • Experience managing large scale migrations and/or complex technology implementations is desired.
