Our Western Canada Team is set to launch several exciting new projects in the fall of 2024, providing unique opportunities to engage with high-profile clients and drive transformative initiatives across diverse industries. We are looking to grow our team and have several positions & roles to fill.

ROLE:  TECHNICAL LEAD - Oracle Utilities CCS / Tarriff Billing Project

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Lead to work with the Tariff Billing Project team and support the overall solution of replacing the legacy CIS with Oracle CCS product. The Tariff Billing (CCS) Technical Lead has overall responsibility to ensure all technical aspects of the solution align to the business processes, are completed in a quality manner to meet business, functional and technical requirements.  

You must have previous implementation experience and deep technical skills with Oracle Utilities CCS, CCB, and/or C2M to successfully deliver on this complex and business-critical project.   

**Please note the following:

  • For this opportunity, YOU MUST be legally eligible to work in Canada, holding either Permanent Residency or full Citizenship status.  Sia Partners is unable to cover relocation expenses at this time.
  • If not local to Edmonton and the surrounding area – you must be flexible to travel and willing to work in-office / on client site minimum 3 days per week (hybrid). Travel expenses would be covered.
  • The TARGET START DATE is NOVEMBER 2024 

Responsibilities of this role:   

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure code quality meets minimum requirements. 
  • Take a deep dive into code development in collaboration with Code & Development auditing resource(s) to assess quality and provide objective input to the code developer. 
  • Perform code reviews of proposed release build to ensure code produced by the Tariff Billing Vendor Partner meets coding standards.  
  • Help translate business requirements into technical solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Vendor Partners (system integrators) to implement a solution that aligns with industry best practices. 
  • Lead and guide interrelated development and operational activities to the extent it has interdependencies to the Tariff Billing Project. 
  • Escalate project risks and vendor concerns to the Project leadership team.   
  • Collaborate with the IT technical team to ensure that enterprise technical standards, requirements and procedures are understood to the extent they impact the Tariff Billing Project.  
  • Monitor project progress and provide technical release consultation. 
  • Assist the team in troubleshooting technical challenges. 
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, processes, and tools to enhance development capabilities. 
  • Make solution design decisions needed to guide the project direction and scope. Drive the adoption of common and out of box processes and functionality for the utilities where possible. 
  • As a leading member of the Design Authority review all Functional and Technical Design Documents (FDD’s and TDD’s) produced by the Tariff Billing Vendor Partner to ensure the design is acceptable to the business. 
  • Help drive the high-level architectural discussions during the development and implementation. 
  • Escalate issues to the Program leadership team when it cannot be resolved by the Design Authority. 
  • Manage the technical aspects of requirements to technical solution with the Tariff Billing Vendor Partner. 
  • Help coordinate with other functional and technical leads (i.e. integration, conversion, reporting) to ensure alignment between workstreams. 
  • Assist with reviewing Oracle CCS product release to assess potential impacts as well as opportunities related to the continual evolution of the CCS Solution. 
  • Assist with submitting and managing Service Request (SR’s) submitted to Oracle related to CCS product issues (bugs) as well as Customer Enhancement Requests.
  • Ensure technical issues are documented (e.g., Decision Records) and approved to address any technical gaps on the project.    
  • Document code reviews of proposed release build to ensure code produced by the Tariff Billing Vendor Partner meets coding standards. 
  • Hold Tariff Billing Project Vendor Partner accountable, establish clear performance expectations upfront and track progress.  Provide constructive feedback and ensure a positive working relationship.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand the Alberta energy marketplace for both Gas and Electric.   
  • You MUST HAVE experience with Oracle Utilities (CCB, C2M, and CCS) > both technology direction and technical-functional understanding in relation to an implementation of the above modules. 
  • Preference will be given to hands on experience implementing Oracle CCS gained through at least one implementation project. 
  • You will have broad knowledge of Oracle CCS including core CC&B, MDM and MTM processes and knowledge of both the Customer “C” side and the Meter “M” side of the Oracle V model.
  • Deep technical knowledge to effectively perform code reviews of the Tariff Billing Project Vendor Partner produced code.
  • Ability to explain technical terms to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, clear understanding of business rules, and experience working in a geographically dispersed project team. 
  • Effective collaboration and building rapport with team members, project stakeholders, and Vendor Partner(s) implementing or upgrading utility billing systems. 
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture. 
  • Project Management & Leadership.
